For me, villains are as important as the heroes in an anime series. Most anime series of them usually run go on for years, and I believe the fierce villains play a significant role in keeping heroes on their toes and making the series entertaining for years.
One such anime where I absolutely loved the villains is Naruto. I’ve watched the entire Naruto franchise several times. And, if it wasn’t for the villains, it I might have never watched it twice. Below, I will share the top five fiercest villains in the Naruto franchise.
But before starting, I’d love it if you rewatch the Naruto franchise, but from a different angle. Rather than focusing on Naruto and Sasuke, understand the villains’ motives this time to determine their objectives.
Below, I’ve mentioned the best platforms to rewatch the Naruto franchise.
Where to Rewatch the Naruto Franchise?
I believe Crunchyroll and Netflix are the best platforms to rewatch the entire Naruto franchise, especially the parts where the bad characters get beatenthe justice they deserve.
As for me, I prefer Netflix because I usually download Naruto’s episodes quickly, thanks to my high-speed and affordable Cox Internet. This way, I can easily stream Naruto anywhere and at any time without compromising on the quality or worrying about the internet availability.
Top 5 Villains in NarutoTop Five Villains in Naruto:
From Zabuza to Kabuto, there’s no shortage of villains in Naruto. Now, let’s see the top five fiercest villains ever in the Naruto entire franchise.
Orochimaru:
He was the first major villain, and ironically, Orochimaru wasn’t after Naruto, but Sasuke. A Hidden Leaf Shinobi, member of the legendary Sannin, and mentored by the Lord Third Hokage, Orochimaru had a bright future like Jiraya and Tsunade.
Having said that, Naruto fans should might admit that Orochimaru was way more ambitious than the two above legendary Sannins and dared to challenge everything. For instance, while Jiraya wrote a book about women and Tsunade got drunk and gambled in different villages, Orochimaru explored the new Jutsus.
It wouldn’t be an understatement to say that after Naruto, Sasuke was the most important character in the entire franchise. And, Orochimaru should be given credit for training and teaching him Jutsus, which made him one of the strongest characters in the show.
Some Naruto fans may not see Orochimaru as a villain anymore, since he played an instrumental role in the 4th Great Ninja War by bringing back all the former Hokage to life. However, most Naruto fans will never forget him for how he massacred his former teacher, the Third Hokage in the Chunin exams. And potentially, made the Leaf Village the weakest among all the Hidden Villages.
The Akatsuki:
First, I thought of mentioning Kakuzu, then I thought Kisame was the most troublesome in Akatsuki. Then, Sasori,; the puppet master, came to my mind and I thought, “wouldn’t it be better to mention the Akatsuki as the organization rather than focusing on its members?”
The Akatsuki appeared pretty late in Naruto the series but made a lasting impact. And, although this organization was full of rougegued ninjas, one could argue that their motives weren’t wrong at all. For example, Akatsuki wanted to capture all the tailed beasts and use their powers to end the bloodshed in the ninja world.
I must say they had a meaningful objective, but killing all the hosts of tailed beasts was a wrong move. For this purpose, Akatsuki decimated village after village, and many skillful ninjas lost their lives at their hands.
The Pain:
They have been an exclusive part of the Akatsuki and operated on their own. Pain, or the “Six Paths of Pain,” was led by Nagato and Konan, and had revived their friends with the help of Rinnegan.
The Pain shared the same objectives with Akatsuki, but they were fiercer when it came to obliterating their enemies. For instance, Jiraya Sensei, one of the three legendary Sannins got killed by the Pain. And not to forget how the Six Paths of Pain destroyed the Hidden Leaf Village.
That being said, among all the major villains in Naruto, I feel for the Pain. It’s because the Painy never really wanted war and destruction until they had no choice but to defend themselves against other villages.
Madara Uchiha:
We all knew that the Uchihas weren’t famous at all in the Hidden Leaf Village. They were labeled as traitors who always plotted against the village. Then, it was Itachi Uchiha who increased the notoriety of his clan.
However, Madara Uchiha was the person who laid the foundations of evil in the Uchiha clan. First, he founded the Hidden Leaf village with Hashirama Senju. And after a few years, tried to decimate the village only to prove himself stronger than Hashirama. Apparently, he was stopped by Hashirama, but Madara appeared again when the 4th Great Ninja War was in full swing.
That being said, Madara was one of the strongest ninjas in Naruto, and if it wasn’t for Kaguya, he would’ve ultimately reached his objective of Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Kaguya Otsutsuki:
After Black Zetsu got rid of Madara and eventually forced him to transform into Kaguya, we witnessed the first chakra wielder. Undoubtedly, Kaguya’s story arc was one of the shortest, but she was the most powerful villain in Naruto.
Without the help of Hagoromo, Naruto and Sasuke could never defeat her. In fact, Kaguya was so powerful that Naruto and Sasuke couldn’t even come closer to her until Hagoromo loaned them his powers.
Kaguya was a nasty woman who didn’t want to end the wars in the ninja world, but to end everyone who possessed chakra. As the first person to wield chakra, Kaguya didn’t want to share it with others and hence, wanted to take out every ninja.
Before winding up, you might notice that I did not mention Obito or Itachi on this list. I don’t believe that both the characters were bad and but instead were misled by other people.
For instance, Itachi was forced to wipe out his clan on the orders of the Hidden Leaf village’s heads. Then, he was forced to flee the village on the terms that the Hokage would look after his brother. Obito, on the other hand, was brainwashed by Madara for his objectives.
However, the characters I have mentioned had a destructive goal, and not to forget that these villains attacked every village and ninja in their way.
